2. Data Processing — 100% Client-Side

All data processing in DataScrub happens exclusively in your web browser using JavaScript. When you upload a file (CSV, Excel, ODS, JSON, or TSV), it is parsed and transformed locally on your device. No data is ever sent to our servers or any third-party server.

Specifically:

• Files you upload are read by your browser and never transmitted over the network.
• Cleaning operations (deduplication, merging, formatting, anonymization, etc.) run entirely in your browser.
• Exported files are generated locally and saved directly to your device.
• We have no ability to access, view, or recover any data you process.

3. Information We Collect

Because DataScrub is a client-side application, we collect minimal information:

3.1 Automatically Collected Data

When you visit our website, standard web server logs may temporarily record:

• IP address (anonymized where possible)
• Browser type and version
• Operating system
• Referring URL
• Pages visited and time spent
• Device type (desktop, mobile, tablet)

This data is collected for legitimate interests: ensuring website stability, security, and basic analytics. It is not used to identify individuals and is retained for a maximum of 30 days.

3.2 Data You Process

We do not collect, store, or have access to any data you upload or process through DataScrub. This includes file contents, column headers, cell values, and export outputs. All of this stays in your browser's memory and is released when you close the tab or navigate away.

3.3 Cookies

DataScrub uses cookies for essential functionality (storing your consent preferences) and, with your consent, for advertising (Google AdSense). We do not use cookies to track your data files or processing activity — your data never leaves your browser.

4. Third-Party Services

4.1 Google AdSense

DataScrub may display advertisements through Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites. DataScrub is designed with a privacy-first architecture. Because all data processing happens in your browser, the risk of data interception during processing is eliminated. Our website is served over HTTPS, encrypting the connection between your browser and our server. We do not store processed data on any server.

8. Children's Privacy

DataScrub does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. Since we do not require account creation or collect personal data beyond server logs, our service can be used by anyone without providing identifying information.

9. International Data Transfers

Since we do not collect or process your data files, there are no international data transfers of your processed data. Server logs may be processed in the country where our hosting provider operates. Google AdSense may transfer data internationally in accordance with Google's data processing agreements.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. If we make material changes, we will provide a prominent notice on our website. Continued use of DataScrub after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
